Overview

Fire Protection specialists respond to brush fires, burning rocket fuel, and hazardous material fires in the unusual environments where the Air Force operates. They protect others on Air Force bases and assist civilian fire departments when needed.

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

    Meet the EMS credential requirement where the target fire department requires EMT certification. National Registry certification alone does not authorize EMS practice; state authorization is required.

    Eligibility and preparation: For the National Registry full education pathway, complete a state-approved EMT course meeting national education standards within the past two years, with program director verification, and pass the National Registry EMT examination and a State EMS Office approved BLS skills competency requirement.
