170B Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) Technician
Overview
Electromagnetic Warfare Technicians analyze, plan, organize, execute, monitor, integrate, and assess electromagnetic warfare operations, threat environments, and technical requirements. They integrate electromagnetic warfare into targeting and planning, coordinate air and ground systems, and assist in developing enemy electromagnetic warfare order of battle information, target products, intelligence, and target selection standards.

What the Work Involves
- Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electronics engineering tasks.
- Evaluate project work to ensure effectiveness, technical adequacy, or compatibility in the resolution of complex electronics engineering problems.
- Confer with engineers, customers, vendors, or others to discuss existing or potential electronics engineering projects or products.
- Set up and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems.
- Test circuits and components of malfunctioning telecommunications equipment to isolate sources of malfunctions, using test meters, circuit diagrams, polarity probes, and other hand tools.
