S1 Source Handler
Overview
The Source Handler specialty enables soldiers to conduct Category 2 Military Source Operations. These operations collect positive intelligence information on hostile elements and activities that may threaten friendly forces deployed to a theater of operations.

What the Work Involves
- Obtain facts or statements from complainants, witnesses, and accused persons and record interviews, using recording device.
- Record progress of investigation, maintain informational files on suspects, and submit reports to commanding officer or magistrate to authorize warrants.
- Write reports or case summaries to document investigations.
- Follow ethical codes that protect the confidentiality of information.
- Compile terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms such as those for legal or medical material.
