Description
Marine Investigations Subspecialty Officers are designated as Marine Casualty Investigators and Suspension and Revocation Investigators. Marine Investigations Subspecialty Officers are knowledgeable in 46 CFR Part 4 (Marine Casualties and Investigations) and Part 5 (Marine Investigation Regulations - Personnel Action). A Marine Casualty Investigator is responsible for conducting interviews and evaluating evidence to determine the facts of the casualty, analyze causal factors, and provide Findings of Concern or Safety Recommendations. A Suspension and Revocation Investigator is responsible for ensuring safety of life at sea for mariners and passengers by evaluating mariner conduct.
