Response-Ashore Specialty Officers encompass the functions of Search and Rescue, Defense Operations/Readiness, Maritime Law Enforcement/Ports, Waterways Coastal Security (PWCS) Operations, Boat Forces, Marine Environmental Response, Contingency Preparedness, and Incident Management. The OAR career path focuses on command and control activities associated with incident response and/or security enforcement. Response-Ashore billets require proficiency in command, control and communications processes, and the exercise of response and security enforcement expertise to accomplish incident command and crisis management operations.
