Description
Defense Operations/Readiness Subspecialty Officers facilitate USCG's activities in the Defense community as experts in tactical, operational, and strategic levels of national defense operations, planning, and execution. Defense Operations/Readiness Subspecialty Officers fill critical Defense Readiness positions in USCG, DOD, or interagency units or staffs. Defense Operations/Readiness Subspecialty Officers rotate between defense-oriented staff assignments and USCG or DOD operational assignments. The intent of the Defense Operations/Readiness Subspecialty (OAR12) is to show mastery of the USCG's Defense Operations mission, beyond routine interaction with DOD.
