Description
Marine Environmental Response Subspecialty Officers support the Federal On-Scene Coordinator (FOSC) as subject matter experts of the Clean Water Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and fill critical positions that direct the detection, mitigation and removal of oil and hazardous substances as per the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan (NCP) and the National Response System. Marine Environmental Response Subspecialty Officers demonstrate mastery of the Coast Guard's marine environmental protection mission.
