Description
Public Information Chief Warrant Officers (CWOs) employ a complete mastery of communication practices and theory in an effort to educate and inform the American public about the Coast Guard and its missions. Public Information CWOs serve as public affairs officers and have a keen understanding of the National Response Framework as it relates to public affairs. Public Information CWOs facilitate and assist with the flow of information generated by the mass media, the internet, and various modes of communication (i.e., television, radio, feature, films, etc.). Public Information CWOs understand how to characterize risk communication situations, advise senior leadership on public communication plan manage communication operations, and facilitate internal and external organizations communication. Public Information CWOs are usually prior PA ratings in the Coast Guard.
