Communications-Computer Systems Operations
3C0X1 was the Air Force Communications-Computer Systems Operations specialty. Personnel prepared and operated communications-computer systems, controlled system output, troubleshot problems, and performed authorized operator maintenance on peripheral equipment. The June 1995 Air Force survey also describes network administration and the planning, scheduling, and supervisory duties of 7-skill-level personnel. Service records use 3C031 for apprentice, 3C051 for journeyman, and 3C071 for craftsman. The survey calls the career ladder Communications-Computer Systems Operator. On November 1, 2009, the Air Force converted the former 3CXXX, 2EXXX, and 3AXXX career fields into the 3DXXX cyberspace-support structure. Personnel initially followed primary conversion paths, with some alternate-path adjustments during November. The announcement does not specify the successor mapping for 3C0X1. Separately, the DoD crosswalk records April 2010 as the month when 3C031, 3C051, and 3C071 entered obsolete status. That crosswalk date is distinct from the November 2009 restructuring and is not a verified code-specific personnel-conversion date.
