First sergeant
These position changes took effect on 29 April 1949: paragraph 8a made the regulation's date the effective date for the listed changes.
- SSN 0585 was not listed as rescinded or restricted; these changes establish only the reclassification of specified positions, not an Army-wide cancellation of the code.
Source extraction notes
This code is not in paragraph 5's rescission list or paragraph 6's restricted-use list; only the explicit appendix T/O&E position conversions are asserted here. First-sergeant positions convert to 1745 in light-weapons organizations and 1812 in heavy-weapons organizations. Repeated position-level change-sheet rows are collapsed into this one canonical predecessor event, preserving first-source successor order. The predecessor remains in the SSN namespace; successors are numeric MOS codes.
