585 Title not stated in source

Appendix I deletes SSN 585 and refers to paragraph 10c rather than naming a single replacement code. That rule permits supervisory duty titles but requires the SSN to reflect the soldier's actual occupational specialty, so the applicable code depends on that specialty, not the supervisory title alone.

Documented history

Title not stated in source

30 June 1945 is the publication date of Change 2, not an established deletion date for SSN 585; the effective deletion date is unstated.

  • Appendix I does not state the deleted specialty's title.
  • Paragraph 10c distinguishes administrative First Sergeants, who use SSN 502, from tactical First Sergeants, who use the code for their tactical specialty. These are conditional examples, not universal successors to SSN 585.
Source extraction notes

Appendix I deletes SSN 585 but provides no explicit SSN successor code. Printed directive: "(See par. 10c.)" No paragraph reference, ASTP symbol, or generic gun-crewman instruction was inferred into the SSN namespace. The table does not print the deleted specialty title, so the neutral title placeholder is used. The row-level deletion date is unstated. The citation dates Change 2 to 30 June 1945; that publication date is not an effective deletion date.
