Documented history

Supply Chain and Material Management Specialist

The recorded effective date of the merger is October 1, 2024. September 30, 2024 is the announcement's publication date.

  • The merger applied only to grades sergeant through master gunnery sergeant, and entry-level training for PMOS 3043 and 3051 remained unchanged. The FY26 MOS manual lists MOS 3043 as a current primary specialty for private through corporal, titled Supply Chain Specialist. MOS 3043 was not completely retired.
  • No individual action was required: Manpower Management Integration Branch (MMIB) reported unit diary entries to convert the active component and Reserve Affairs Management converted the reserve component, working from a reclassification spreadsheet provided by the 30XX occupational field sponsor.

Merger at Sgt-MGySgt into Supply Chain Manager (3047). Para 4.a limits the reclassification to Sgt through MGySgt. Para 4.b assigns active component conversion to Manpower Management Integration Branch (MMIB) unit diary entries and reserve component conversion to Reserve Affairs Management, identified by a reclassification spreadsheet from the 30XX occupational field sponsor, with no individual action required. Para 5.a keeps entry-level 3043 training unchanged. NAVMC 1200.1L (FY26) lists 3043 as a current PMOS for Pvt through Cpl, titled Supply Chain Specialist.

Supply Chain Administration and Operations Specialist (PMOS)

MOS 3043 was renamed from Supply Chain Administration and Operations Specialist to Supply Chain and Materiel Management Specialist, retaining code 3043 and its primary MOS (PMOS) status. The FY18 table also marks a revised MOS description and a requirement change.

1 October 2017 is the scheduled active-component classification batch date in paragraph 4001.1b, not a row-specific effective date or completion deadline. Paragraph 4002.2 instead prints 1 October 2008, a conflicting instruction; the 2017 date follows the FY18 implementation schedule.

  • The record identifies description and requirement changes but does not explain their substance.
  • Reserve retraining for Prior Service MOS Retraining Program, Active Reserve, and Selected Marine Corps Reserve Marines was required as applicable and subject to available funds. For Individual Mobilization Augmentees, Individual Ready Reservists, and Standby Reservists, service-record entries were authorized by the DC M&RA (MM) conversion action shown on the unit's Diary Feedback Report with an origin of "HQ".
  • Formal schools and training detachments were to continue awarding current MOSs until MARADMIN direction implemented the conversions.

Source new title: Supply Chain and Materiel Management Specialist (PMOS). Figure 4-1 remarks: 2, 7. NAVMC 1200.1C (FY18) paragraph 4001.1b schedules the active-duty-component MCTFS batch for 2017-10-01. Paragraph 4001.6 separately addresses Reserve retraining, subject to available funds for the specified groups, and records for Individual Mobilization Augmentees, Individual Ready Reservists and Standby Reservists. Paragraph 4002.3 keeps formal-school MOS awards unchanged until MARADMIN implementation direction. The scheduled batch date is not proof of an individual's qualification, retraining or record-update completion. Paragraph 4002.2 prints 1 October 2008, in conflict with the 1 October 2017 schedule in paragraph 4001.1b. The recorded date follows the edition-specific schedule in paragraph 4001.1b; the conflicting printed instruction is not silently corrected.
