675 Messenger

Appendix B lists SSN 675 as Messenger in the September 1942 classification and June 1944 tentative manual, with suggested reclassifications to SSNs 055, 521, 667 or 745. These were alternatives, not automatic conversions: each person’s Qualification Card had to be reviewed against the manual’s job specifications.

Documented history

Messenger

June 1945 is the manual’s publication date; no effective date or completion deadline is given for reclassifying SSN 675.

  • The June 1945 Present Title entry is blank, so it does not establish a retained or renamed specialty.
  • The suggested wartime SSNs are not evidence of equivalence to modern occupations with the same numbers.
Source extraction notes

Predecessor title from the June 1944 tentative-manual column: Messenger. Suggested conversions/remarks, as printed: 055, 521, 667, 745. These are suggested reclassifications subject to individual Qualification Card and job-specification review, not automatic or present-day equivalents. The table gives no row-level calendar effective date. June 1945 is the manual publication date, not an inferred individual conversion date.
