769 Chief Storekeeper

Appendix B identifies the earlier, asterisk-marked SSN 769 classification, Chief Storekeeper, for deletion and suggests SSN 251, SSN 819, or another appropriate SSN. Selecting a replacement required reviewing the individual's Qualification Card against the job specifications, so this was not an automatic split into two specialties.

Documented history

Chief Storekeeper

June 1945 is the manual's publication date. No calendar effective date is given for deleting or reclassifying the earlier Chief Storekeeper classification.

  • Chief Storekeeper appears in the AR 615-26 column covering September 1942 and supplements; the asterisk ties the suggested replacements to that title.
  • The same number appears as Radio-Gunner, Power Turret in June 1944 and Radio, Turret-Gunner, Aviation in June 1945. The marked replacement suggestions do not apply to those aviation titles, and the shared number does not establish succession from Chief Storekeeper.
Source extraction notes

Predecessor title from the AR 615-26 column: Chief Storekeeper. Suggested conversions/remarks, as printed: *251, 819, or appropriate SSN. Asterisks bind the suggestions to the correspondingly marked earlier title, not to an unmarked present-title meaning. The Present Title column is the manual's June 1945 meaning: Radio, Turret-Gunner, Aviation. It is not a present-day MOS equivalence. These are suggested reclassifications subject to individual Qualification Card and job-specification review, not automatic or present-day equivalents. The table gives no row-level calendar effective date. June 1945 is the manual publication date, not an inferred individual conversion date.
