812 Heavy Weapons NCO

Appendix B marks the earlier SSN 812 classification, Heavy Weapons NCO, as deleted for Marine Corps use through the instruction “Appropriate SSN.” A replacement had to be selected by reviewing the individual’s job and qualifications, rather than by an automatic conversion to a fixed specialty.

June 1945 is the manual’s publication date; no calendar effective date is given for this deletion.

  • The asterisk ties the deletion instruction to Heavy Weapons NCO in the September 1942 AR 615-26 and supplements column, not to the unmarked June 1944 title Infantry NCO.
  • Infantry Chief is the June 1945 title for SSN 812. Retention of that number does not establish Infantry Chief as the automatic replacement for Heavy Weapons NCO.
