Appendix B lists SSN 9953, Engineering Operations Chief, under AR 615-26 of September 1942 and its supplements, and suggests SSN 593 as a possible replacement. This was not an automatic conversion: each affected Marine’s Qualification Card had to be reviewed against the job requirements before a replacement specialty was assigned.
