<p>Master Chief Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (ABCM), is a senior leadership compression rating, for leaders knowledgeable in the skills and duties performed by personnel in the ratings Aviation Boatswain's Mates, Launching and Recovery Equipment (ABE); Aviation Boatswain's Mates, Fuels (ABF); and Aviation Boatswain's Mates, Aircraft Handling (ABH). The ABCM supervises and manages operations and maintenance in the areas afloat to include steam catapults, barricades, arresting gear; catapult hydraulic systems, retraction engines, water brakes, jet blast deflectors, deckedge and ICCS; arresting gear engines; and aviation fueling and lubricating oil systems including all equipment and safety related to the fuel system. Other major supervisory skills include the knowledge required to operate and maintain ground-handling equipment used for moving and hoisting of aircraft and includes all associated equipment ashore and afloat within the Air Department's spaces. The ABCM is responsible for maintaining readiness and training in the movement and spotting of aircraft; firefighting crews, fire and crash rescue teams, crash removal and damage control duties; and all aircraft handling duties related to the operation of aircraft launching and recovery equipment.</p>
