Overview

A Naval Aircrewman Master Chief Petty Officer supervises aircraft system operation and maintenance, integrated tactical crew members aboard fixed wing and tilt rotor aircraft, and unmanned aerial vehicle activities. They oversee mission planning and scheduling, aircrew operations, safety, training, administration, ordnance handling, classified material, and intelligence products supporting search and rescue, evacuations, patrol, reconnaissance, transport, and special operations.

Notes & Sources

  • AWCM appears in the January 2026 official enlisted code snapshot, but the current NAVPERS 18068F Vol I (Change 105, Jan 2026) contains no AWCM rating chapter or career pattern.
  • Each Naval Aircrewman service rating chapter (AWF, AWO, AWR, AWS, AWV) tops its career pattern at a service-specific master chief rating - AWFCM, AWOCM, AWRCM, AWSCM and AWVCM respectively - so the current occupational standards document no AWCM duties.
  • Without a current AWCM occupational standard, this identifier alone cannot support occupation-specific skills, career paths or credentials.
