Seabee Master Chief

Description

<p>Seabee Master Chief (CBCM), is a senior leadership compression rating, for leaders knowledgeable in the skills and duties performed by personnel in the ratings Builder (BU), Engineering Aide (EA), Steelworker (SW), Construction Electrician (CE), Construction Mechanic (CM), and Utilitiesman (UT). The CBCM plans and supervises tasks required in construction design preparation, surveying, drafting, materials testing, and construction management to include detailed supervisory knowledge of fabrication and erection of pre-engineered structures; build and repair waterfront structures; demolition of existing structures; installation, service, and repair of overhead and underground electrical equipment and distribution systems; maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and overhaul of automotive, material/weight handling and construction equipment; and tasks involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, heating, steam, compressed air, fuel storage and distribution systems, water treatment and distribution systems, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, and waste water management systems. Other major supervisory skills include the knowledge required to research and requisition repair parts, establish control survey points, understand traverses and circuits, create topographic maps, stake out construction projects, employ conventional and Global Navigation Survey Systems (GNSS); review and edit construction drawings; and oversee various welding and cutting operations. CBCM supervises preparation of records, schedules, planning and estimating material and labor, quality control, progress reports and blueprints, drawings, and specifications. The CBCM is also responsible for training and maintaining the combat readiness of their assigned personnel, Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA), Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) operations and tasks required in combat and disaster preparedness or recovery operations.</p>
