Civilian Career Paths

Career associations are editorial assessments of the cited evidence, not an official crosswalk unless the evidence explicitly says so. O*NET supplies civilian occupation information, not proof of a military match. Related experience does not confer civilian qualifications. Tasks and tools below describe civilian work, not military training.

Animal Trainers

Supervising military working dog teams and administering their training transfers directly to conducting canine training programs, particularly for security work.

How to prepare: Create a sample civilian canine training plan with target behaviors, training exercises, and a progress log to demonstrate how you organize and evaluate training.

What the civilian work involves
  • Conduct training programs to develop or maintain desired animal behaviors for competition, entertainment, obedience, security, riding, or related purposes.
Civilian tools and software (examples)
  • Microsoft Excel
