Sailors in Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks complete apprentice level formal instruction and on the job training while exploring potential ratings. The program leads to a permanent rate or career field within two years, after which Sailors can pursue credentials related to their assigned rating.

- PACT (Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks) is an enlisted apprenticeship program, not a rating: the Vol I apprentice chapters state that PACT Sailors 'will receive rating designating based upon the billet for which they are selected in MyNavy Assignment (MNA)' per NAVADMIN 275/19.
