How to prepare: Assemble an official sea-service transcript or assignment history with vessel tonnage, routes, propulsion power, time underway, and assigned duties for Coast Guard endorsement evaluation. Officer work requires an MMC with the appropriate endorsement and Coast Guard approval of experience, age, citizenship, health, training, professional competence, and drug-test qualifications; most water transportation jobs also require a TWIC.
