Getting Started

  • Senior Parachute Rigger

    Obtain the FAA certificate and appropriate type rating for the intended civilian parachute rigging work.

    Eligibility and preparation: General eligibility is age 18 and English ability, subject to limited geographic/employment exceptions. The standard route requires at least 20 parachutes packed for each requested type under an appropriately rated certificated or military rigger, a written knowledge test, and oral and practical tests. The special military route under section 65.117 requires the same packing experience, a regulations written test, and satisfactory evidence of qualifying military membership or employment, or honorable release within the preceding 12 months, plus service as a military rigger currently or within the preceding 12 months.
