603 Gunner

Appendix B suggests SSNs 601, 603, 845 or 864 for the earlier SSN 603 title Gunner, with each choice requiring review of the individual's Qualification Card against the job specifications. The asterisks tie those suggestions to Gunner in AR 615-26 (September 1942 and supplements), not to Field Artillery Crewman, the title listed for both June 1944 and June 1945.

Documented history

Gunner

No effective date is given for these suggested reclassifications. June 1945 is the manual's publication date, not a documented conversion or end date.

  • These alternatives do not establish an automatic split or a fixed successor; retaining 603 was only one suggested option.
  • Field Artillery Crewman is the June 1945 meaning of SSN 603, not a present-day MOS equivalence.
Source extraction notes

Predecessor title from the AR 615-26 column: Gunner. Suggested conversions/remarks, as printed: *601, *603, *845, *864. Asterisks bind the suggestions to the correspondingly marked earlier title, not to an unmarked present-title meaning. The Present Title column is the manual's June 1945 meaning: Field Artillery Crewman. It is not a present-day MOS equivalence. These are suggested reclassifications subject to individual Qualification Card and job-specification review, not automatic or present-day equivalents. The table gives no row-level calendar effective date. June 1945 is the manual publication date, not an inferred individual conversion date.
