Overview
A Geospatial Intelligence Specialist plans, processes, analyzes, exploits, and disseminates spatial information used to understand the operational environment. The specialist combines data on terrain, inland and coastal water, climatology, meteorology, and cultural intelligence with other information to create a comprehensive picture of the operational area.

What the Work Involves
- Compile data required for map preparation, including aerial photographs, survey notes, records, reports, and original maps.
- Delineate aerial photographic detail, such as control points, hydrography, topography, and cultural features, using precision stereoplotting apparatus or drafting instruments.
- Prepare and alter trace maps, charts, tables, detailed drawings, and three-dimensional optical models of terrain using stereoscopic plotting and computer graphics equipment.
- Inspect final compositions to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Produce or update overlay maps to show information boundaries, water locations, or topographic features on various base maps or at different scales.
