Description
The Utilities Chief is responsible to the commander and assists in the planning, training, deployment and employment of all utilities capabilities. They supervise and coordinate the assignment of personnel and equipment in accordance with the Table of Organization and Equipment. They plan, supervise, and coordinate the installation, operation, and maintenance of utilities assets. This MOS is technical in nature and requires years of experience to become proficient. Due to the diversity of commands throughout the Marine Corps, some of the duties and tasks performed by the Utilities Chief may overlap with those of the Engineer Equipment Chief, Motor Transport Maintenance Chief, and Motor Transport Operations Chief. They may also be assigned to the staff of a Marine Air-Ground Task Force command element, ground combat element, air combat element, and logistics combat element advising utilities support. Additional duties may include formal schools faculty, new equipment/systems research and development, and new systems acquisition. This MOS will only be assigned to graduates of the resident Utilities Chief Course.
