Overview

An Amphibious Combat Vehicle Crewmember operates and maneuvers the vehicle in water and ashore, employs it tactically, and engages targets with onboard weapon systems. They prepare the vehicle and associated equipment for movement and combat, support shore to shore and ship to objective operations, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.

Getting Started

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

    Support entry into commercial heavy-truck driving with the license class appropriate to the vehicle.

    Eligibility and preparation: CLP applicants must be at least 18, meet citizenship or lawful permanent residency and state domicile requirements, and have no disqualifications. Non-excepted interstate driving generally requires age 21 or older and sufficient English proficiency. Knowledge and skills testing apply unless waived. First-time Class A or B applicants must complete registered-provider entry-level driver training unless exempt. A state may waive the skills test for qualifying drivers with two years of safe military operation of equivalent commercial vehicles who apply within one year of leaving that driving position and meet license and driving-record conditions. MOS 1834 is not listed for the military knowledge-test waiver. The military training exemption requires meeting all applicable conditions of 49 CFR 383.77.
