2143 Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) Technician
Overview
An Amphibious Combat Vehicle Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs the ACV family of vehicles and may operate them during combat or garrison operations. The technician performs shop administration, manages tools and equipment, and works with vehicle radios, mounted weapon systems, and remote weapon station or turret systems.

What the Work Involves
- Modify, maintain, or repair electrical, electronic, or mechanical components, equipment, or systems to ensure proper functioning.
- Inspect and test electrical systems and equipment to locate and diagnose malfunctions, using visual inspections, testing devices, and computer software.
- Test drive vehicles and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
- Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
- Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
