Overview

An acoustic intelligence specialist independently advises commanding officers and sonar organizations afloat and ashore while reviewing documentary, aural, and graphical sonar information. The specialist determines the nature and origin of acoustic intelligence, prepares reports and briefings, develops analytic techniques, and provides formal training on acoustic intelligence matters.

  • DIA states: "The majority of our hiring is done at the entry-level through invitation-only hiring events; however, vacancies may be posted for mid- and senior-level positions as mission dictates."
  • DIA Analysis applicants selected after resume review take a writing test and interview with a panel of hiring managers.
  • DIA initial employment requires U.S. citizenship, a satisfactory special security background investigation, any required medical examination, any required counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, and satisfactory completion of a urinalysis drug test; refusal ends the offer. A security clearance must be granted before hiring is finalized.
