Getting Started

  • Senior Parachute Rigger

    Obtain the FAA certificate for civilian parachute-rigger work.

    Eligibility and preparation: General eligibility requires age 18 and English ability, subject to limited geographic/employment exceptions. The standard route requires at least 20 parachutes packed for each requested type under an appropriately rated certificated or military rigger, a written knowledge test, and an oral and practical test. The section 65.117 military route requires a regulations written test, satisfactory evidence of qualifying military membership/employment or honorable release within the preceding 12 months, service as a military rigger currently or within the preceding 12 months, and the section 65.115(a) packing experience.
