  • Military sea-service credit requires USCG evaluation of an official sea-service transcript or assignment history, plus vessel tonnage, routes, propulsion power, time underway, and assigned duties. A DD-214 alone is not acceptable sea-service evidence.
  • If the intended role requires an officer endorsement, USCG must verify age, experience, character, physical health, citizenship, approved training, professional competence, and a dangerous-drug test; applicable credential requirements may also include security screening and written and physical examinations.
