O*NET supplies civilian occupation information, not proof of a military match. Related experience does not confer civilian qualifications. Tasks and tools below describe civilian work, not military training.

Russian Translator

Advanced Russian reading in support of Fleet, National, or Cyber missions provides a foundation for understanding source material for translation.

How to prepare: Prepare a Russian-to-English translation sample using public material and have an experienced translator review its accuracy and English writing quality.

What the civilian work involves
  • Compile terminology and information to be used in translations, including technical terms such as those for legal or medical material.
  • Refer to reference materials, such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks, as needed to ensure translation accuracy.
Civilian tools and software (examples)
  • Microsoft Word
