Medical Deep Sea Diving Technician

Description

Assists the Medical Officer in prevention and treatment of illnesses associated with Deep-Sea diving for hyperbaric and hypobaric conditions. Performs duties as Inside Tender for Recompression Chamber operations. Qualify to dive using all Air and Mixed-Gas USN Assist the Medical Officer, Deep Sea Diving Independent Duty Corpsman and non-medical personnel in the recognition, prevention and treatment of illnesses associated with diving for hyperbaric and hypobaric conditions across Navy, Marine Corps and other Diving platforms. Performs prolonged casualty care, Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS). Administers all approved medications, efficient use of emergency medical equipment (rescue, recovery and extraction devices), patient handling, patient movement techniques, associated medical administration and logistical duties. Serves as an organic dive team member and is proficient in associated core skills of Navy Deep Sea Diving. Performs duties as Inside Tender for Recompression Chamber operations and is qualified to dive using all Air and Mixed-Gas USN Diving Apparatuses. Operates, tests, repairs and adjusts all USN Diving Equipment, systems, support equipment and recompression chambers. Uses underwater tools to execute procedures for, underwater harbor/port/ship security inspections including ordnance searching, ships husbandry, salvage, submarine rescue, Special Warfare, demolition, air and small boat operations. Operates Swimmer Delivery Vehicle Dry-Deck Shelter and Submarine Lock-in/Lock-out systems. Areas of knowledge and training includes, but are not limited to, advanced diving medicine/physics: open/semi/closed circuit diving apparatuses and surface-supplied Air and Mixed-Gas diving procedures.
