13J Fire Control Specialist
Overview
Fire Control Specialists use automated computer based systems to facilitate the delivery and integration of joint fires during combat operations. They integrate battlefield information from users and sensors, process firing solutions and precision fire missions, manage meteorological data, troubleshoot firing solutions, and maintain automated tools and section equipment.

What the Work Involves
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
- Produce or update overlay maps to show information boundaries, water locations, or topographic features on various base maps or at different scales.
- Compile, sort, and verify the accuracy of data before it is entered.
- Prepare emergency situation status reports that describe response and recovery efforts, needs, and preliminary damage assessments.
- Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.
