Overview
A Satellite Transmissions System Operator installs, operates, and maintains wideband satellite communications and troposcatter transmission systems. This operator works with systems across multiple frequency bands, spectrum analysis tools, communications planning hardware and software, transmission security, communications security, and approved positioning, navigation, and timing devices.

What the Work Involves
- Develop and implement solutions for network problems.
- Monitor strength, clarity, and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals, and adjust equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts.
- Install all necessary transmission equipment components, including antennas or antenna mounts, surge arrestors, transmission lines, connectors, or tower-mounted amplifiers (TMAs).

- Inspect or test lines or cables, recording and analyzing test results, to assess transmission characteristics and locate faults or malfunctions.
