An MQ-9 officer employs a network enabled, digitally interoperable unmanned aircraft system from a ground control station to provide RSTA, aviation fires, and electromagnetic support across combat operations. The officer advises supported commanders on unmanned aircraft system integration and provides intelligence information unavailable through normal sources.

How to prepare: Study the FAA Part 107 operating rules and prepare for the UAG knowledge exam. Part 107 operations require a Remote Pilot Certificate; first-time applicants must be at least 16, meet English-language and safe-flight physical and mental condition requirements, and pass the exam.
Providing commanders with intelligence-value information from UAS operations offers a foundation for DIA's military-capabilities analysis specialty.
How to prepare: Prepare an unclassified writing sample assessing a foreign military aviation capability to practice for DIA's writing test and interview. DIA requires U.S. citizenship and a security clearance before hiring can be finalized, with background screening and any required medical or counterintelligence polygraph examinations.
