AWF Naval Aircrewman Mechanical
Overview
Naval Aircrewmen Mechanical perform flight and ground duties as members of fixed wing and tiltrotor integrated tactical crews. They calculate aircraft weight, balance, and performance, maintain and operate aircraft systems, move cargo and passengers safely, conduct medical evacuations, and execute equipment handling and emergency procedures.
Minimum clearance: Secret, often with SCI exposure

What the Work Involves
- Determine the quantity and orientation of cargo, and compute an aircraft's center of gravity.
- Direct ground crews in the loading, unloading, securing, or staging of aircraft cargo or baggage.
- Respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.
- Verify that first aid kits and other emergency equipment, including fire extinguishers and oxygen bottles, are in working order.
- Inspect aircraft for defects and malfunctions, according to pre-flight checklists.
