Overview
The Amphibious Air Traffic Control Center Controller directs pilots of amphibious assault ship based aircraft during VFR and IFR departures and approaches. This controller uses radio communications, surveillance radar, and carrier controlled approach radar systems aboard LPH, LHA, and LHD ships.

What the Work Involves
- Inform pilots about nearby planes or potentially hazardous conditions, such as weather, speed and direction of wind, or visibility problems.
- Issue landing and take-off authorizations or instructions.

- Transfer control of departing flights to traffic control centers and accept control of arriving flights.
