AWV Naval Aircrewman Avionics
Overview
Naval Aircrewmen Avionics perform in-flight and ground duties as members of fixed wing tactical aircrews aboard special reconnaissance, command and control, and logistics aircraft. They pilot and maintain unmanned aerial vehicles, operate photographic and communications equipment, transport cargo and passengers, administer networks, maintain information technology, and handle messages and communications security material.
Minimum clearance: Secret, often with SCI exposure

What the Work Involves
- Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies, using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, or voltmeters.
- Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems.
- Inspect completed work to certify that maintenance meets standards and that aircraft are ready for operation.
- Respond to and report in-flight emergencies and malfunctions.
- Observe loading of freight to ensure that crews comply with procedures.
